THE NEW PEETS
New build for the Mercredi. DT Swiss 350 hubs (with colour matched decals) laced with 30mm deep CWW rims and Sapim CX-Ray spokes.
BEND 86
Building these up for Bristol cyclist who has a few long distance feathers in their cap. Carbon clincher rims laced to Son Deluxe dynamo front (Center-Lock Disc) for power and lights and DT Swiss 350 rear for no nonsense hard wearing fit and forget reliability. Spokes are Sapim CX-Rays. Will be used for fast and light distance events and touring. Pic is mid-build (before tension and clean up)
Dynamo!
Two front wheels that will be heading to Paris - Brest - Paris 1200km Audax later in the year. Son Delux Dynamo hubs built onto CWW 23mm rims using Sapim D-Lite spokes. Really nice dynamo build this one to keep your lights and Garmin running though the night(s). These weight in around 975 grams for the front so a decent weight for a dynamo wheel. Cost £340 per front wheel. Disc brake compatible hubs, 12mm axle version and specific rims available as well.
Сухой - 35mm Carbon Clinchers
Venn carbon 35mm clincher rims built onto Bitex sealed bearing hubs with Sapim CX-Ray spokes. The 35mm rims are light and allow them to accelerate quickly but still gives an aero advantage at speed. These are off for some racing in Ireland.
Soul Sonic 50mm Carbon Clinchers
New Venn carbon rims in. 50mm clinchers seen here. Just about to build these up with Sapim CX-Ray spokes and Bitex hubs. Stiff and light and at a competitive price point.
£795 for the set with rims tape and pads.

Miura Carbon Clinchers
What we have here is a 50mm deep, carbon clincher, disc brake specific wheelset. They are running on DT Swiss 240 centre lock hubs (with 6 bolt convertors) on a Campag free hub . Laced with Sapim CX-Ray spokes. The rims are 50mm deep carbon CWW rims with no braking surface on this particular build (rim brake versions are available). The finish is Matte UD. These will be taking on a wide range of challenges, road, gravel and CX. They will manage it with ease. If you need some quality carbon wheels built then we have the technology.
El Gato Loco!
Climbing wheel set headed for Costa Blanca, Spain. Such a lovely area to ride in and with some big climbs to get stuck into a light weight set of wheels really helps. These are light at 1370 grams for the pair but with 20h/24h spoke pattern and DT411 rims built with Sapim CX-Rays and spoke washers (enables you to reach a nice high spoke tension on light weight rims) they are not flexy or flimsy and will descend and corner well. The rear has an off centre drilling which helps get a more even spoke tension. This is a feature i really have grown to like and recommend, especially for light weight builds. I used Tune Mig/Mag hubs on these. Class.
ZZ Eliminator Climbing Wheelset
A lot of people want climbing/light wheels for trips away to Europe and elsewhere. There is no doubt that a light set of wheels improves the overall feel of a bike and its climbing ability. However to chase ever decreasing weight at the cost of strength and usability for me seems a bit of a shame. I think these wheels tread the line between being light weight and usability perfectly. Using Ryde Pulse Sprint rims with White Industries T11 hubs and CX-Ray spokes gives you a wheel set that weights around 1380 grams. At the centre you have quality and robust hubs, laced with top of the range aero spokes and light alloy clincher rims. The rear has an offset drilling meaning more even spoke tensions. These were built for a light rider, for slightly heavier riders I use The Ryde Pulse Comp rear rim which is a little heavier but works better for a heavier more powerful rider. With this rim they still are under 1400 grams. I love these wheels and so does everyone who has them.
Monochrome Railroad
Just built these up for Rob Williamson at Pyrenees Cycling. www.pyreneescycling.com
They will be used guiding guests up and down some of the most iconic climbs in the French Pyrenees, as well as tackling the Raid Corsica, Raid Pyrenean and a lot more. The terrain and that work requires a wheelset that climbs well but is reliable and hard wearing. The weather can be really harsh and whilst having feather super light wheels is great for climbing they would wear out, both the braking surface and the hubs in no time. Guiding also means the ride isn't about you - it is about showing guests the legendary roads where Tours past and future have and will ride. Your bike is a tool and it has to work, everyday, faultlessly. There is no space or time for flimsy, throw away equipment. H Plus Son rims and DT Swiss 350 hubs give you a solid wheelset that climbs and descends well and will do that everyday without flinching.

DIRTY REIVER CX
These headed up north shortly after being built to take part in the Dirty Reiver 200km off road ride. Designed for fast CX/Gravel riding. Using H-Plus Son SL42 rims, laced onto DT350 hubs (with Campag free hub conversion on this build) and using Sapim CX-Ray spokes you have a durable set of wheels for fast, flat CX/Gravel rides and long endurance events. The SL42 alloy rims give an aero advantage over their lower profile counterparts but are more durable and reliable than carbon rims, ideal for rides that are in the wilderness and are far away from a bike shop or civilisation. They'll get you through whatever is chucked at them. They look the business as well!
Winter Wheels 'Golden Tickets'
This is a pair of great value and classic looking winter training wheels. Using Bitex hubs, Sapim Race/D-lite spokes and Ambrosio Excellence rims these will keep you rolling through many a winter training block and commute. This set cost £275 and various other rim options are available.
Latest Build: Ryde Pulse Sprint/Comp. White Industries T11s
This is a pair of Ryde Pulse Sprint(Front) and Ryde Pulse Comp (Rear) wheels built onto White Industries T11 hubs using Sapim CX-Ray spokes. Around 1400 grams for the pair so great for climbing. With the slightly stiffer Comp rim on the rear you get a much sturdier wheelset that can handle hard out of the saddle efforts and also the long alpine descents.
Boyd/T-11s: "Al Capone's Wheels"
I have the pleasure of building these up this week. The Boyd Altamont rim is lovely to work with and can handle a high spoke tension, especially when used with nipple washers. Hi-polish silver White Industries T11 hubs and silver Sapim CX-Rays they look amazing in the flesh. These are going on a super rare Pinarello Dogma Rapha Special Edition… Class.
Zipp 808 Rebuild… Witness the Stiffness
This front Zipp 808 came into the workshop needing a rebuild to get more lateral stiffness. Whilst climbing out of the saddle the original build with stock Zipp hub was flexing between and rubbing on the brake pads. With a low spoke count and relatively low limit on spoke tension there isn't much that can be done in its stock format. The hub was replaced and laced radially but with 'heads in' to increase the bracing angle. Below is Richard's response:
Richy’s Wheel Re-Build Works
Richy rebuilt my front Zipp 808 last week and on Sunday I put it straight into the Colchester Rovers 50 mile TT. Now even when climbing out of the saddle there is next to no brake rub, previously the wheel bounced between the brake pads like a pinball.
The final inspection.
